For the first time, we are recording a live akhanda kirtan cd, and need you to be part of this event. For the best recording, as many kirtan lovers as possible are needed to have a strong response for the kirtans and to support the continuation of this sadhana.
Kirtanists include: Muktimurti, Sivamantra, Layananda, Chintanshuddhi. Musicians include: Gary Luke, Maharshi, Nila, Sundardas, Emanuel, Prabhu and more.
At Mangrove, we have witnessed not only how kirtan has developed and spread like wild fire throughout the world, but also watched how our practice of kirtan has evolved. The Akhanda kirtan sadhana has become the most popular weekend retreat at Mangrove Yoga Ashram. Akhanda means unbroken and it is this aspect that helps transcend the practice into a spiritual sadhana. Through the practice of aAhanada Kirtan we are pushed beyond our personal limitations and then the opportunity for change, transformation and expansion becomes possible.
So come and be part of Mangrove Yoga Ashram's 24 hour akhanda kirtan from 24-26th May. The weekend includes 24 hour kirtan session from Friday 8pm- Saturday 8pm, full moon havan, chai stall, daily yoga classes and Sunday kirtan related workshops. For this akhanda kirtan we are lucky to have many renouned kirtanist from the Satyananda Yoga tradition and guest musicians who will be keeping the kirtans rocking all night – including Swami Muktimurti (who voice you may know from CDs ‘Pranam’ and ‘Nada Yoga Swara Sadhana’), Swami Shraddhamurti, Swami Pragyananda (from Rikhia), as well as many others.
Akhanda kirtan is a potent and easy means to capture the mind. While singing kirtan the mind is filled with sattwa, pure vibrations, and supreme peace and joy are experienced. It purifies the heart and gives many other benefits. No other practice will induce divine, ecstatic states as quickly and as powerfully as akhanda kirtan.
–Swami Sivananda Saraswati
Music has so much power that it can free your ego. Through kirtan you can reach the highest pinnacle of spiritual experience. Not by yoga or by any other means but by kirtan alone can you have the vision of the Divine.
–Swami Satyananda Saraswati
During the weekend participants will be taught how to lead kirtan, play an instrument, and learn more about the other branches and realms of yoga that support kirtan, such as havan. So everyone will gain confidence to take the practice home to share. We look forward to more and more people developing the art, science and love of kirtan!
If you are a kirtanists and want to also sing, please email us in advance with your request and we will do our best to include you in the line up.

A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speech and thoughts. And the consequences, whether good or bad of even the least of them, are far-reaching.
